A Fictionalization of the Many Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics ⚛️

I recently read another pretty nerdy novel to my 8 and 9 year olds. As a physicist, even the title, "The Many Worlds of Albie Bright" intrigued me. I've always loved Hugh Everett's Many Worlds Interpretation of quantum mechanics and was hoping this book would make the idea more relatable to my kids in an engaging story.


I'm happy to report that the reference to Everett's theory is not just in passing, it is the key plot device. This book by Christopher Edge, actually did a pretty good job of explaining the idea that multiple parallel universes may exist all at once. With some fancy quantum tech resembling Schrodinger's cat box, the author suggests that we could potentially even travel between these universes.


Much of the story was fun and exciting, but the overarching theme was pretty sad. I'll try not to spoil too much, but ...
